Batumi Boulevard

The main and the old attraction of Batumi – Batumi seaside park – stretches for seven kilometers and is located along the north-western coastal part of Batumi. Its construction began in 1881, when the governor, then a Batum region, commissioned the construction of the park along the promenade of the German growers Ressler and Reyer. Their project has been realized by French nobleman, the artist-gardener and nature lover Michael D’Alfons, who became the first caretaker and gardener Batumi seaside boulevard. In recent years, it was decorated with modern sculptures, original benches and fountains. During the peak summer season beach strewn with cafés, restaurants, beach bars and clubs. Out of season it is always just a beautiful coastal boulevard. Any time of a day you are not strolling in the quiet hours of the morning or on a hot afternoon, you just have to come here before sunset to see the sun plunges into the sea.

One of the most memorable attractions of the park are considered the famous Singing Fountain. The first “dancing” fountain appeared on the boulevard in 1977. They were designed by Georgian architect Erkomaishvili. Three of them are open at once to amaze visitors at the entrance to the park. These fountains are lined up one behind the other and are of unforgettable sight. Sometimes, especially on sunny days, over the fountains you can see a rainbow.

By planning Boulevard represents five parallel alleys, which are separated by the classic lawns, as well as various cafes. In the first alley, which is called Magnolia, is located pavilion where every day chess and backgammon lovers.
